About the Founder
Aloha!
I’m Cody Blue — a youth mentor, community builder, and lifelong student of nature-based wisdom. I created Simply Guided to give boys what I believe every young man needs: a place to be seen, supported, challenged, and inspired to grow.
Over the years, I’ve worn many hats — from teaching at nature schools to serving as a lead guide in a therapeutic nature based program. My work has taken me into the forest, onto beaches, and into the hearts of young men looking for belonging, meaning, and confidence.
Currently, I serve as the Island Coordinator and a lead mentor with Boys to Men Hawai‘i, where I help build mentoring programs across East Hawai‘i. I directly facilitate weekly groups at both Hilo High School and Malamalama Waldorf School, creating safe, grounded spaces for boys and young men to be seen, heard, and supported.
My path has included teaching at Children’s Garden Nature School in Barnardsville, North Carolina, and spending a year as a lead guide with Pacific Quest, a horticulture-based therapeutic program on the Big Island and currently with Boy to Men. These experiences have shaped my passion for mentorship and the healing power of nature.
While I participated in Boy Scouts as a kid, what I truly longed for were strong, positive male role models — men who could show me how to walk through life with self-respect, integrity, care for others, and the courage to face challenges with heart. I didn’t grow up with a father who showed me those ropes, and that absence became a quiet hunger I carried for many years.
A big part of my purpose now is to offer the kind of presence I once needed — to be a steady guide, a compassionate challenger, and a reminder to the boys I work with that they are not alone. I bring a grounded presence, playful energy, and a deep belief in the power of mentorship, community, and the natural world. My approach is rooted in emotional intelligence, rites of passage, and real-life leadership — the kind that sticks with you long after the summer ends.
